Wednesday pm Jan. 29
I didn't mail this before going up to Dijon. Misses Cooper, Carlson, and self went up Monday morning reaching there at 1 pm, and left at 3:30 Tuesday afternoon. Did a little shopping along with the sightseeing. Tuesday afternoon between 2 and 3 we were taken with the YMCA party through the museum and art gallery in the former palace of the Dukes of Burgundy. Very interesting. The finest art gallery in France outside of Paris, but hadn't time to see things as I should liked to do. They will permit a party o 30 Americans only through during the one hour daily. A French Party is conducted through at 9 am. A Frenchman who speaks good English and two guards conducted the party.
I still have my room at 26 and hope to keep it until ordered out of camp. Went to a movie in the 26 Red Cross hut last night and tonight an entertainment is being given-local talent from the personnel of 26. Tomorrow night 26 is giving a dance. A nurses recreation hut for the Center has been opened up and has a splendid floor-compared to the floors of the barracks and mess halls.
We have a very good mess in Evac 19, better than in 26. I'd enjoy a few apples out of you barrel.
Just been repacking my trunk-putting in my rubber boots. I haven't made much use of them but Herald will enjoy them. The only things we return to the red Cross are the sleeping bags and steamer rug. I seem to have more room in my trunk than I had coming over or else I have learned to pack. Am looking forward to Fan's letter telling of her trip to Minneapolis.
Love to all, Jane
